Mid South Humanities

The Mid South Humanities Initiative utilizes the art of filmmaking and storytelling to engage, empower and connect Memphis youth between the ages of 12 and 18 with the hope of cultivating and inspiring future black and brown filmmakers passionate about telling their story.

We will partner with high school facilities to host monthly Hero's Journey workshops throughout the year for youth in identified areas who are interested in the fields of entertainment, communications, journalism, and media production, and then connect them with mentors that offer life skills training and ways to use the camera as a way to share their story and capture the stories of others.

We then go full steam ahead in empowering the ascendency of the indie film maker spirit. by hosting summer intensives where youth enrolled will have a chance to produce their very own short film or narrative to be publicly screened and entered into local, regional and national film festivals.
