Angela Williamson is a public historian currently residing in the Memphis, Tennessee metropolitan area. Angela is the Consulting Chief Operations Officer for the Withers Collection Museum and Gallery in Memphis, where she also facilitates the Community Education and Engagement Program. Angela holds a master’s degree in History, and degrees in Liberal Arts and in Business Administration. As a public historian, she has served on the boards of Hilltop Heritage, Inc., the Jacksonville, Florida Branch of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History
(ASALH), Clay County Florida Historic Preservation, and Clay County Literacy Coalition,
and has served as an English as a Second Language (ESL) tutor for adult learners. Her
professional affiliations include the National Council on Public History (NCPH), the
American Historical Association (AHA), American Association for State and Local
History (AASLH), and the Association for the Study of African American Life and History
(ASALH). Her focus with the Withers Collection Museum and Gallery includes education,
preservation, and access associated with the material culture of the organization, and
expansion of the Community Education and Engagement Program. Professionally, and
personally, Angela is committed to helping others to make meaningful connections
between the past and the present.
